Erie County, Pennsylvania is psyched to receive more revenues and provide more jobs to its residents as Presque Isle Downs and Casino gets ready to add more tables by the 1st of July.
The casino currently employs some approximated six hundred and thirty employees, hoping to add more by the time the additional tables are set in place. With the addition of 48 table games by the start of the third quarter this year, an estimated 500 jobs will be available to Erie County.
With the downturn in employment rate brought on by the recent financial crises plaguing the entire nation and the rest of the world, this is indeed good news for residents in the county.
Erie County’s local officials welcome this good turn of events for the community, seeing this opportunity to cut down on their unemployment rate as a boost to the morale of the county.
The county’s Executive, Barry Grossman was quoted as saying that the additional 500 work force needed by Presque Isle Downs will be extremely beneficial to the community. He further sees this opportunity for locals who will be employed to earn more than the usual minimum wage given to those working in the hospitality industry.
Casino workers stationed at the different tables here typically earn more, with tips added to their regular salaries. Entry-level salaries for these casino employees could range somewhere between thirty to thirty-five thousand dollars per annum.
Presque Isle Downs is looking into hiring at least three hundred and fifty employees for their additional tables plus a couple more for their other departments; i.e. security, food and beverage and housekeeping.
Of the jobs that will soon be opened, a number of these will be occupied by trainees at the casino’s own training program; plus the other job openings being made available with Erie residents as top priorities.
A substantial boost in tourism is also likely to be enjoyed not only by Erie County but by the entire country as well, as more visitors are expected to come and play at the tables each year.
Visitors who will be traveling all the way to Erie County to play at the Presque Isle Downs and Casino are expected to stay for at least a night, spend money on shopping and dining, and also on the other attractions found within the county.
The revenues enjoyed by the US, approximated at almost $800 million per year are likewise expected to rise with this new development.
Plans to put up a community college are also already on the drawing board, getting ready to get off ground, with some of the money coming from revenues from the additional 48 table games. This is another advantage to be benefited by the residents who wish to further their studies without having to spend much in out-of-state colleges.
With all of these opportunities already in the offing, Erie County is looking forward to a more fruitful year ahead and a steadier foothold into their road to recovery from the financial meltdown suffered by the country.
Presque Isle Downs and Casino currently has a variety of two thousand slot games, horse racing and OTB; plus dining and other entertainment facilities. Expansion is underway to accommodate the table games, which is estimated to cost the casino around twenty-five million dollars; with the necessary licensing fees already covered by the estimate.
Residents and local officials are hopeful that this project will soon come into fruition and come July 1st, the unveiling of the table games is expected to receive a good turnout.
