As part of expansion plans by Wildhorse Resort and Casino, INX Inc. has made an announcement that its project for unified communications and a comprehensive virtualization of the facility’s data center has already been finished. The casino, which is located in Pendleton, Oregon, has established itself as one of the resorts and gaming destinations of choice among residents and tourist of the Pacific Northwest. The current operators and owners of the casino resort is the Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation. As Wildhorse is preparing for an expansion of its site that is described as significant, the plan is expected to be finished by the third quarter of next year. For its part, INX upgraded the facility’s data network and phone system, implementing improvements in a large scale in the process. The resort’s expansion is included in the master plan of the casino resort that would be implemented for 10 years, which should provide visitors and guests with customer experience they would not forget and the most advanced technological amenities.
The expansion of Wildhorse is touted as a major plan, not only because of the length of time and the included budget but also because of the sheer size of the additions. New space to be added in the facility will measure up to 184,000 sq ft, which will include an expansion of 24,000 square feet to the facility’s gaming floor. The rest of the new space will bbe dedicated to the construction of a cinema complex to house four screens and a hotel that will have 202 new rooms and suites. As of the moment, the Wildhorse complex already includes a casino that runs for 24 hours, a hotel, a park for RVs, 5 eating establishments, a sports bar, an 18-hole golf course and a Tribal museum. The casino is currently reputed as the Pacific Northwest region’s highest paying gambling facility. The record for Wildhouse is a slot jackpot worth $9.1 million. Meanwhile, INX provides IP communications and data center solutions for organizations in the US.
In line with the anticipated expansion, Wildhorse has tapped INX to apply a unified communications system by Cisco. Moreover, INX has also been tasked to integrate both the facility’s data network and telephony, as well as let the facility incorporate applications for new guests. The upgraded phone system has already been put into use, and so far, it has allowed the casino to decrease the number of its circuits, which has translated to a decrease of costs in telephone communications by as much as 50 percent. Moreover, Wildhorse and INX have partnered to realize a data center that is virtualized so that performance can be optimized while costs can be lowered. As for the computer systems, INX has upgraded the resorts’ systems by putting a storage area network byNetAp, a Unified Computing Solution by Cisco and using a VMware technology so that the data center of the casino will be close to 75 percent virtualized.
The Unified Communications system, infrastructure and the overall performance of the network of the casino resort will be monitored by INX Managed Services. By letting INX perform these daily tasks, the casino resort will be able to focus more of their staff on actual operations and making sure guests get a high quality experience while lowering costs. INX in the past has already provided IT services to Wildhorse. Ethan Barrow, account manager of INX, has been taking care of Wildhorse for four years, and the current project has given revenue amounting to $1 million to INX.
